Kidney Stones During Pregnancy


Kidney stones during pregnancy are believed to have a greater tendency of taking place especially during the late phases. It is believed that in most of the cases the kidney stones usually pass away with the help of conservative treatment. Sometimes if early conservative treatment is not successful in getting rid of the kidney stones, intercession might be needed to do so.
There are limited options of controlling the symptoms until the child is born, and in most cases, doctors usually recommend placing a stent into the bladder in order to help the kidney stones pass.

Prcutaneous nephrostomy tube placement or a ureteral stent is used to treat kidney stones in pregnant women. Other forms of treatment are not yet permitted for use, nor are they considered to be safe to be administered during pregnancy.
 

Treatment for Kidney Stones During Pregnancy


Drinking freshly squeezed lemon juice during the day can help in relieving the pain and other associated female kidney stone symptoms during pregnancy, but apart from some local measures and remedies, it is not advisable to take over-the-counter prescription of pain medications to get relief from the pain. Although kidney stones do not pose a direct risk to the fetus, it may create difficulties for the pregnant woman. It is extremely critical that doctors diagnose the correct position of the kidney stones especially if they are in the urinary tract. Drink as much fluids as possible during the day, and continue your intake of water on a daily basis without allowing your body to get dehydrated. In some cases, if the kidney stones are smaller they are likely to get flushed out with an increased consumption of water.
